Globalisation. A larger world
Globalisation was a term used to describe the process by which multinational companies expanded within the developed world and into the emerging economies. Today, companies from emerging economies increasingly expand to other emerging economies and into the developed world. More and more, globalisation is about everyone competing against everyone in every market.
Spain: budget for 2009 presented to Parliament
For governments and businesses, autumn is the time for the preparation and presentation of the budget for the coming year. This year it is not just the leaves that are falling. Stock markets, led by the shares in leading banks, are dropping like stones off a cliff. Unprecedented rescue packages are being put together by governments to prevent well known financial institutions from going to the wall. Public money, counted in billion of dollars, pounds and euros, is being injected into the global banking system in the hope that banks will resume lending. Jobs, homes, pensions, life styles and the futures of millions of people depend on these remedies working.

The new Government of José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has included the removal of the Wealth Tax in its first 11 measures to reactivate the Spanish Economy. This decision, announced during his campaign for re-election, was not expected at this early stage, and brings an important incentive to residents and non-residents.
