The New Era of Billing: VERI*FACTU, Electronic Invoicing, and Timely Preparation

Business strategies

Changes in business billing are no longer a future prospect; they are already underway. The arrival of VERI*FACTU and the progressive rollout of B2B electronic invoicing will represent a significant shift in how companies and professionals issue, record, and manage their invoices. More than a technical obligation, we are witnessing a transformation in the model of control and management of financial information. At UHY Fay & Co, we support companies and self-employed professionals through this process, helping them understand how they are affected, what decisions must be made, and how to prepare in advance.

Two Key Changes to Monitor

New Computerized Billing Systems (SIF) – Anti-Fraud Law The regulation establishes new requirements for computerized billing systems, guaranteeing the integrity, preservation, accessibility, readability, traceability, and inalterability of billing records. It also distinguishes between VERI*FACTU systems, which submit records to the AEAT, and systems that maintain such records internally while complying with regulatory requirements.

Official Deadlines:

  • January 1, 2027, for Corporate Income Tax payers.

  • July 1, 2027, for all other taxpayers subject to the regulation.

Until then, companies can leverage the voluntary implementation of VERI*FACTU systems as an adaptation and testing period before the mandatory effective date.

B2B Electronic Invoicing – “Crea y Crece” Law Electronic invoicing will be mandatory for transactions between companies and professionals. The regulation has been approved and is pending specific regulatory developments for its final implementation. Its application seeks to strengthen fiscal transparency and favor the reduction of payment terms. These are two distinct regulations, but they share the same impact: the way companies manage their billing.

The Importance of Strategic Decision-Making

Every company begins from a different position. Some will be able to adapt their current system, while others will need to replace it. Furthermore, many are still uncertain whether the tools they currently use meet the new regulatory requirements. Making decisions without properly evaluating the impact can be costly from both an economic and operational perspective.

How UHY Fay & Co Can Assist

Our objective is to help companies and self-employed professionals face these changes with security, clarity, and sound judgment. We provide assistance to:

  • Understand if and how the regulation affects them.

  • Analyze their current situation regarding billing.

  • Define the most suitable alternative (adapt or replace) and identify practical solutions.

We understand that not all organizations need to develop or modify their own billing systems. Therefore, UHY Fay & Co works with billing solutions already adapted to regulatory requirements, which can constitute an efficient alternative for companies seeking agile implementation without complex developments. In an environment that remains technical and constantly evolving, our role is to provide clarity: interpreting the regulation, organizing available options, and helping to make decisions with sound judgment.

A Change That Is Also an Opportunity

Beyond regulatory compliance, this transformation can become an opportunity to:

  • Improve internal processes.

  • Gain control over information.

  • Boost the digitalization of the organization.

If your company wants to understand how these changes affect it and what decisions it should make, it is not advisable to wait until 2027. This is the time to analyze the current situation, assess available alternatives, and prepare ahead of time.
